Lent is here, which means Easter is coming! So as we prepare for more snow again, remember it won’t last for much longer. Spring will be here soon. At least that’s what I’m telling myself as I look ahead to more digging out.
It was so lovely to get together with many of you on Wednesday evening for the beginning of Lent. We’ll definitely have to look for more reasons to gather and try more of Neil and Phil’s recipes.
As we discussed on Wednesday, lent typically has three components to it: prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
If you’re like me and almsgiving is a newer concept, it’s basically another word for giving time and resources to God’s kingdom work. It’s been heartening to see all of us respond this week to one of our families in need with such generosity and kindness. This doesn’t surprise me because we’ve been intentional from day one to create a safe place of belonging and value for blessing others as part of our mission at Gathering Delco. And I know that’s not what you find in every faith community. So, I want to name that and encourage all of us to be grateful that God has drawn us together for a reason. Let’s keep praying for the Holy Spirit to lead us in our shared ministry.
Sunday we’ll have Church in the Living Room at our house at 11:00AM. So, notice the change of time please. 11:00am instead of 10:30am is the plan. However, if the weather is bad, we can meet on zoom. I’ll send a link in the morning if we need it.
Unfortunately, we’re going to cancel Youth Group because of the snow. We’ll get together again soon for Uno and God stuff.
I’ll leave you know with a scripture to focus on for Lent.
Psalm 139
23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
